Fun Little Ruffle Clippies!

So.. My husband left again to go back to his deployment this week :( Major sad face. So it's back to blogging for me!
It was a great two weeks, but it went by way to fast. We didn't do much but hang out and relax, which was fine with the both of us, since we haven't seen each other in a while. I was just glad to spend time with him :)
I'm not very good at taking pictures of us without taking off part of one of our heads :|..

I miss him so much :(

I did manage to work on a couple of crafty things while he was here though, I just can't stay away :D
I had some scraps left from the Halloween dresses that I made, so I decided to use them to make cute little clippies to match them and this is what I came up with:

What do you think? Would you like to make some of your own?
Well here's your chance!

What you will need is:
-Fabric (I used scraps)
-Glue Gun
-Hair Clips
-Ribbon (Optional)

First I measured the clip to see how long I needed to cut the strip of fabric.
For my clips I cut them 1in. by 4.5 in. for the outside ones and 3/4 in. by 4.5 in for the inside piece

I then ruffled them using the basting stitch on my sewing machine
They kind of curled up and I couldn't get them to stay uncurled for the picture :(
I took the outside threads and tied them in knots once I got the fabric ruffled like I wanted to keep it in place.

I decided to line the clips at the last moment, because I thought it would look cleaner
I need a better camera... These are actually Orange!

I curled under the ends of the fabric and then hot glued the clip
and tada! There you have it.. Cute, little Ruffle Clippies!

Have an awesome Weekend!!!

***In case you would like to buy these little clippies instead of making them, they will be available in my Etsy store this weekend!***

  4. Very cute! Never thought to do a clip that's just a ruffle. I usually make a ruffle and turn it into a flower. Thanks for the idea!

  5. Cute! Can you see the clips if you have the fabric wrapped down? I have a ton of clips to use but that's something that I'm debating on--whether to cover the clips or not.

  7. @Suki- Thanks! If you make the ruffle strips long enough you can wrap them around the clips and it will hide them!

@Tonia- Thanks for the invite! I just went and visited and you have some cute ideas I am going to have to try out!
