Scissors!

So i am patiently awaiting the arrival of my bundle of Kona fabrics :) I can't wait to get started on my new adventure into quilting! As I am waiting to get started on my first quilting square I was thinking that my scissors needed a little updating, so as I was doing this I wrote up a quick little tutorial for you guys!

*Before I share that with you guys though, I want to tell you something awesome that happened to me today! My husband called me on Skype this morning at 2am! I was so excited that I couldn't go back to sleep, hehe!*

Okay, anyways back to what you guys came here for, the tutorial!

First I started with a pair of plain old scissors;
I also used a piece of scrap booking paper
                clear tacky glue
                hole punch
                and some modge podge (not pictured)

I then traced the scissor blades on the back of the scrapbook paper

I cut the pieces out and laid them on the scissors to make sure they fit. I took my fingernail and rubbed it on the screw on the blades to mark where it it. I took the hole punch and punched a hole to make a place for the screw. I glued the pieces to the blades with the tacky glue and painted modge podge over the top to make the paper stay.

That's it! Now sit back and enjoy your cool new scissors!

  1. Very cool! I have a pair of fiskars that I'm stubbornly protective of- the blades are printed with black and white skulls. I think they'll need to be sharpened soon, though.

  2. What an AWESOME IDEA!!! I just bought a pair of scissors by TONIC--which I LOVE--but it has tim holtz's name on them (I don't love him-he doesn't stand behind his crappily made products)so been wondering how to cover that up! You saved the day! Thanks for sharing!Blessings, Sharon
